Santiago de Querétaro

Querétaro, a colonial city founded in 1531, borders the state of Guanajuato and was registered since 1996 as World Heritage by UNESCO, such recognition promoted the city as a major tourist center. Located in the central region, its proximity to Mexico City makes it one of the main cities in the Country.

The state capital is now a benchmark for their contributions to the development of high-tech aerospace industry since 2006, with the opening of the first Intensive Training Program for the Aviation Industry (PEI) at the Universidad Tecnológica de Querétaro (UTEQ). A year later the city opened in the Universidad Nacional Aeronáutica en Querétaro (UNAQ)

Currently Mexico is the fifth largest supplier of aeronautical parts to Europe, and the eighth to North America thanks to the cluster located in Queretaro. In February 2011 General Electric opened in the city an Advanced Engineering Center dedicated to the aircraft turbines design and power generation, in which invested $ 20 million.
